Which musical should I see: Rent or Hairspray?

Can someone give me a detailed description of the plot of the broadway musical Hairspray?

Oh ya,I mean the broadway play, not the moive, I’vexseenthe movie (loved it) but the Original Broadway Soundtrack has some different songs and from my understanding a different storyline

Is “The Madison” a song from the Broadway musical “Hairspray”?
